KIEFEL' s advanced MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) addresses even more areas of film production.
Our proven modular components make it possible to adjust our MDO modules to the demands of our customers. And whether it’s run inline or off-line oriented – when running in conjunction with our efficient KIRION® C - control system, there is a dramatic improvement in efficiency.
The technology of the longitudinal stretching (MD) of extruded film is nothing new: More than 30 years ago, first application areas existed in the production benchmark, in order to positively affect the film characteristics or the performance for our customers. But only the advanced diversification of the film market toward the end of the last century prepared the fertile soil for the today's variety of applications:
• Extension of the durability - barrier layers in relation to gas permeation (oxygen, steam and other gases) and other external influences become still more effective and/or more inexpensive
• Down gauging - cost savings by film thickness reduction with comparable or improved mechanical film characteristics
• Improve optical characteristics - e.g. optimize transparency and optimize gloss improves the promotional impact of your packaging
• Breathability - In the area of "Personal Care", higher functionality of breathable films leads to an increase in performance, and in the case of diapers, an increase in comfort.
• Profitability – Film produced with low priced raw materials would not compromise final product quality which would give a noticeable increase in profit margins.
